Reading Promotion Week under PM SHRI Scheme at Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF Rampur (21st - 27th August 2024)
Introduction: From 21st to 27th August 2024, Kendriya
Vidyalaya CRPF Rampur successfully conducted the "Book Promotion
Week" under the PM SHRI Scheme. The week-long event was organized to
cultivate a love for reading, enhance language skills, and encourage students
to explore the world of books. The event was marked by a variety of engaging
activities, including reading aloud, storytelling, poem recitation, and a
correct words-per-minute competition.
Activities Conducted:
1. Reading
Aloud Sessions: The event began with reading aloud sessions, where
students from different classes read passages from their favorite books. This
activity was designed to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and confidence
in public speaking. Teachers also participated by reading aloud inspiring
stories and essays to further motivate the students.
2. Storytelling
Competition: Storytelling was one of the most engaging activities of
the week. Students enthusiastically narrated stories, showcasing their
creativity and imagination. This competition encouraged them to express
themselves freely and develop their narrative skills. The stories covered a
wide range of themes, from folktales and fables to personal experiences.
3. Poem
Recitation: A poem recitation session was held, where students recited
poems in both Hindi and English. This activity helped students work on their
pronunciation, expression, and rhythm. The students' selection of poems ranged
from classic literature to contemporary works, which helped them appreciate the
beauty of poetry.
4. Correct
Words-per-Minute Competition: To assess and enhance students' reading
speed and accuracy, a correct words-per-minute competition was organized.
Students were given a set of passages to read, and their reading was timed while
ensuring correctness. This activity not only promoted reading efficiency but
also instilled a sense of healthy competition among participants.
Conclusion: The "Reading Promotion Week" at
Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF Rampur was a resounding success. The event aligned with
the objectives of the PM SHRI Scheme to promote quality education and foster a
love for reading. The students actively participated in all activities,
showcasing their talents, and improving their reading skills.
The event encouraged students to embrace reading as a joyful habit and
contributed to their overall academic growth. It was a week filled with learning,
fun, and literary exploration, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
